Stressed Out? Try These Tips!

Stress - you can’t get away from it, we all have stress in our lives. Here is the good news though, how we manage it and what we do on a daily basis to cope with it can help us in an exponential amount of ways. If we develop a few positive habits that we can do every day to relax, even when things are great, it will help us when the serious stuff comes our way.  There are so many things you can do to unwind but here are my top 10:

  1. Exercise

  2. Take a walk

  3. Play your favorite music

  4. Pet your animals (or go find someone else's to hang around!)

  5. Take a few deep breaths in and out…or meditate for a few minutes

  6. Bike, hike or run in the woods

  7. Sit under a tree

  8. Get it out, don’t store it inside… when you calm down tell someone how you feel.

  9. Write in your journal

  10. Sing or dance all around your house

Your physical and mental health depend on you taking care of yourself, and how you deal with stress should be a top priority. Every day I take time to get my mindset in a joyful place, some days I need it more than others. I don’t beat myself up when I get angry, frustrated, or sad, but I do have healthy ways to deal with all my emotions. There are so many other ways besides my top 10 like hanging out with your buddies and having a glass of wine or a beer, playing video games, cooking, pulling weeds, building things, writing, the list goes on and on. Do yourself and others a favor, take care of yourself everyday and do small things that make you smile. When life hits you smack in the face, you will know what to do for you. Nothing is more important than having lots of joy in your life.
