Finding Inspiration At Home
Do you ever have those days where you want to create something or try something new but you can’t get motivated? You've already binged enough on Netflix, read two new books, but there is just nothing driving you to get up and do something. What’s the hurry, right? You're not going anywhere and you have nothing but time. You don’t have any idea of when life will become normal again, no timeline, nothing to reach for, so what the heck, it can wait another day. You're not even sure what you want to be doing. It doesn’t feel great to just lay around, that is not like you, but lately you are having a rough time. As you lie on the sofa, feeling sorry for yourself and the world, you start feeling a bit guilty. You are healthy, you have a roof over your head, food in the house, and people that care about you. This is something that everyone is going through, so what do you have to complain about? When they say we are all in this together, well this time, they are damn straight. Although it is somewhat comforting to know you are not in this alone and there are plenty of people watching show after show, it just feels off to you. You like being productive, busy, and useful to society. You miss people and you miss being excited about getting up in the morning and starting your day. They all run together and the novelty of being home has long worn off. What to do, what to do....
Well, I’ll tell you what you are going to do, you are going to have a reset button. That’s right. You are going to push reset and start fresh. It is perfectly fine that you have all those feelings. This is a rough situation and everyone is dealing with similar emotions, but now you are here, and it’s time to take full advantage of the situation and find out what really does matter to you. What inspires you? You may not have the answer right now but you are going to create a fun space, mentally and physically, for you to feel relaxed and energized at the same time. You are going to look online, talk to friends, journal, and even hop on some webinars. This is the time for you to do something you have always wanted to do, from your home of course.
In order for you to allow those creative juices to flow, you have to give yourself time each day to explore. It is ok if you don’t have all the answers or if you try something and hate it, the important thing is that you keep your eyes open to all opportunities that are out there calling your name. Just a few minutes every day can make a huge difference.
So, here is your big assignment to help you get inspired: do whatever makes you smile and feel joy just for a few minutes a day. Then, let those creative juices flow. Maybe you want to play guitar, write a song, draw, dance, write a book, design a new home, it doesn’t matter. I just want you to pick something that feels good to you and go after it. You got this, I promise.
